Terri Lyne Carrington
Terri Lyne Carrington is an NEA Jazz Master, Doris Duke Artist, and four-time Grammy award-winning drummer, composer, producer, and educator. She serves as artistic director of the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice, as well for the Next Jazz Legacy apprenticeship program. In collaboration with vocalist Christie Dashiell, Carrington released We Insist 2025!, reimagining Max Roach’s Freedom Now Suite, affirming her mission of using jazz as a tool for social activism. She has performed on over 100 albums and currently holds honorary doctorates from York University, Manhattan School of Music and Berklee College of Music.
In Terri Lyne’s words, “The “Art of Living” project expresses my desire for freedom and my commitment to working with the younger generation, collaborating with former students that I have deep respect for. The art of living has to do with being in the present moment while caring for the future, for the planet and for humanity.”

William Parker
William Parker is a composer, bassist, multi-instrumentalist, librettist, author and educator with over 80 albums as a leader. Parker’s ensembles include the Curtis Mayfield Project, Raining on the Moon and PocketWatch. Special projects include Ellington in Mourning, Trail of Tears, A Thousand Cranes and hundreds of works for voices.
With video by Miriam Parker, William Parker and Patricia Nicholson will perform a new work “Leaf Returned to Tree” based on William’s dream, described in his own words: “A leaf falls to the ground, waking me up. I returned the leaf to the Tree. Tree said ‘It’s not my leaf, it is my sister’s leaf. Please return it to her.’ I returned the leaf to Sister Tree. She said, ‘I left it for you.’”
Theo Bleckmann
Theo Bleckmann is a multi GRAMMY® nominated vocalist, composer and ECM recording artist who has recorded over 17 albums and collaborated with artists such as Ambrose Akinmusire, Sheila Jordan, Kneebody, Ben Monder, Jo Hisaishi, John Hollenbeck, Phil Kline, David Lang, Ulysses Owens, Ryuichi Sakamoto Bang on a Can All-Stars, and, most prominently, with Meredith Monk since 1994. Most recently Pulitzer-Prize-winning composer David Lang wrote the monodrama “note to a friend”, for Theo Bleckmann which was recorded with the Attacca Quartet for Cantaloupe Records. Bleckmann’s newest album as a leader, “Love and Anger” has just been released on Sunnyside Records. l.

Alexandria DeWalt is a vocalist, flutist, and composer who seeks to connect her gospel roots with Americana, classical and jazz traditions. DeWalt’s voice simultaneously acknowledges her roots and navigates the past as she pushes musical boundaries.
Mama Dee is a musician, music educator, from South Africa Limpopo, based in Pretoria. As a guitarist, singer, and composer, she blends the rich sounds and rhythms of Sepedi traditional music (Kiba) with contemporary influences. Mama Dee is also a dedicated music teacher at CAFCA and a co-founder of the female organization JCFI-Mamelodi. Her journey exemplifies a seamless blend of cultural heritage, musical innovation, and social impact.
Alexandria DeWalt and Mama Dee’s Group are performing their commissioned M³ piece along with several original compositions.
Paige Brown & Carolina Borja-Marroquin‘s La Arenera

Paige Brown is a vocalist, pianist, and composer who believes in the use of the voice as a channel, and the use of the instrument/body as a voice.She draws from a broad range of influences that range from high school madrigals to college gospel choir, skipping from soul to funk to folk and weaving through sounds somewhere in between.
Carolina Borja is an Afro-Colombian world musician, composer, educator and storyteller. She has gathered her eclectic experience from collaborating with folk fusion and world music bands, interdisciplinary groups of artists, dance companies, chamber music ensembles and symphony orchestras. She is currently a member and co-leader of the Cleveland based duos Sororii and Amani Strings.
La Arenera is the creative partnership and sonic playspace of Carolina Borja-Marroquín and Paige Brown. Through their music, the duo evokes a sense of freedom, exploration, and exhilaration, blending influences from the African diaspora and the Indigenous peoples of the Americas into a rich and immersive sonic experience. La Arenera creates a space of joy and liberation, a liminal realm stretching from Bogotá to Arkansas, where boundaries dissolve and artistic expression knows no limits.

Chanelle Ignant is a guitarist based in Oakland, CA. Her style blends elements of jazz, R&B, funk, and acoustic soul. Mostly self-taught over the last 15 years, she’s been honing her craft as a performer on stages of all sizes – from backyard shows and DIY spaces to Bay Area staples.
Unma Allinar is a Brazilian tambourine player, percussionist, composer, and musical programmer from Minas Gerais. Unma has participated in the Samba Syndrom festivals (Germany), New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (USA), El Alboroto Festival (Argentina), Pé na Terra Festival (Portugal) and has taught Pandeiro classes at LangstrasserKultur (Switzerland).
Chanelle Ignant and Unma Allinar are performing three works, including their collaboratively commissioned M³ composition and two original pieces composed by the duo.

Coco Elysses is a producer, award winning music director, composer, conductor. musician, beat maker, actress, voice-over artist, screenwriter, doula and published poet. She has performed internationally and has an extensive discography. She is also the former Chair of the venerable AACM.
Summer Kodama is a Japanese-American bassist ,producer, animator and aspiring composer for musical theatre. She is currently prioritizing her debut EP under her solo project, “Empty Melon,” whose mission is to create a multi-sensory and poly creative “performance universe” through audio production, visual art and theatre. Some performance credits include Disneyland, Post Modern Jukebox, Il Divo and Ada Lea.
In this 15-minute interlude, the ancient and the futuristic converge. Modern-day Renaissance woman and AACM Chairperson Coco Elysses brings the haunting, earthy resonance of the Diddley Bow into dialogue with Empty Melon (Summer Kodama) and her immersive “performance universe.” Through Kodama’s pulse-driven upright bass performance and Elysses’ compelling storytelling, the work becomes a meditation on the lineage of Black American Music and the boundless possibilities of the electronic avant-garden.

Melissa is a multidisciplinary tap artist, improviser and educator born and raised in Mexico now based in Brooklyn, NY. Besides her projects as a bandleader and soloist she has also collaborated with Moor Mother, Irreversible Entanglements, William Parker, Luke Stewart, JALCO, amongst others.
Ge Linna is a London based singer, composer and improviser and has released five EPs as part of her series Minerals that feature on BBC Radio, JazzWise Magazine and WFMU. Maddalena collaborates with Maria Chiara Argirò, Ruth Goller and performed alongside Matana Roberts and Jessica Ackerley.
Re·member Water is a live duo performance by Melissa and Ge Linna that explores change, shifting perspectives, and the practice of deep listening. Through live water play, gongs, voice, and tap dance, the artists create a fluid sonic landscape that invites audiences to reconnect with their bodies, one another, and Mother Earth.

Noa Fort is a Brooklyn based vocalist, pianist, composer, improviser and music therapist. As a bandleader, she released several critically acclaimed albums and performed at the BRIC Jazz Fest, DC Jazz Festival, Vicenza Jazz Fest to name a few. She also collaborated and shared the stage with greats such as William Parker, Chad Taylor, Dave Torn, Mat Maneri, James Brandon Lewis, Mary Prescott.
